jane iredale is certified cruelty-free by the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics’ (CCIC) Leaping Bunny Programme, the leading internationally respected animal protection group for cruelty-free certification. CCIC’s Leaping Bunny Programme recognises and supports companies that are doing their part to help eliminate the cruel and unnecessary use of animals in the testing of cosmetic products and ingredients, and do not allow third-party testing on animals for product registration purposes. The Leaping Bunny Programme promotes a single comprehensive no animal testing Standard and the internationally recognised Leaping Bunny Logo.
The CCIC Standard, the Corporate Standard of Compassion for Animals, is a voluntary pledge that cosmetic companies make to remove animal testing from all stages of product development. The company's ingredient suppliers make the same pledge and the result is a product guaranteed to be 100 percent free of new animal testing. All Leaping Bunny companies are subject to independent audits, and commitments are renewed on an annual basis.
The Leaping Bunny Programme offers the most up-to-date list of companies that have committed to no new animal testing throughout their manufacturing process, from ingredients to finished products, and do not allow third party testing on animals for product registration or other purposes in countries like China where animal testing is required. By listing these companies in their Compassionate Shopping Guide and granting these companies the option to use the Leaping Bunny Logo on their products, it aims to promote the sale of animal-friendly products and make shopping for animal-friendly products easier and more trustworthy. A commitment to no animal testing has always been at the core of the jane iredale brand. We do not test our products on animals, use ingredients tested on animals or sell into markets that require animal testing. Our commitment has been clearly expressed on product packaging where we made a no animal testing claim. However, due to the EU cosmetics regulation, a no animal testing claim on packaging is no longer advisable and is being phased out. Our use of the Leaping Bunny Logo will serve as an excellent alternative through which to express our no animal testing commitment, and since the logo is internationally recognised, its use will enable us to communicate our position to a wider international audience.
As you know, for the past 14 years our no animal testing commitment has also been recognised by PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, the most widely recognised animal welfare organization in the U.S. In 2005 jane iredale was certified by PETA as “cruelty-free” and we are licensed to use the PETA Cruelty Free bunny logo. We have been and will continue to be listed in PETA’s Cruelty-Free Shopping Guide which can be viewed at www.caringconsumer.com
, and our longstanding relationship with PETA will not change.
